Lifelong Learning Niagara (LLN) is committed to safeguarding the personal information entrusted to us by our members, registrants, contacts, board members, and individuals providing services.

This policy will be reviewed annually; it was last updated in May 2026.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

LLN collects and uses personal information only for those purposes necessary to maintain contact with registrants, to administer membership, to establish and maintain communications with and among members and contacts, to facilitate registrations for educational sessions, and to respond to inquiries. Personal information means information about an identifiable individual, and can include name, location of residence, phone number, and email address, event registration details, and payment-related information. LLN has no access to personal financial information sent to external organizations such as PayPal, Stripe, or financial institutions.

By submitting a membership, registration, contact, or payment form, you consent to LLN collecting and using your information for the purpose connected to that form.

Disclosure of Personal Information

LLN will not share personal information except in the following circumstances:

• For payment processing (such as PayPal, Stripe, financial institutions) or marketing assistance
• For maintaining contact with and providing services to members and registrants (such as MailerLite, Legacy Designs, and WeeStreem)
• As required by law
• With your express consent

LLN shares only the personal information needed by these external suppliers to perform their services for LLN. LLN will make every reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information, by using practices such as computer passwords, firewalls, encryption and internal organizational tools such as restricted access. However, no method of transmission is 100% secure.

LLN retains information about name, location of residence, phone number, and email address, event registration details, and payment-related information for two years following the previous contact. You may unsubscribe from LLN emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting LLN.

Photographs and video and audio recordings are sometimes taken at our events. Attendees grant permission to LLN to use their image or likeness in photographs, video and audio recordings, and so forth.

Rights

Individuals have the right to access, update and delete their personal information held by LLN, and opt out of data collection and marketing communications. To update your personal information, opt out of communications, or if you have a question or complaint, please contact: contactus@llniagara.ca

If LLN becomes aware of a privacy incident, it will take reasonable steps to contain it, assess the risk, and notify affected individuals if required.
