Who We Are
Our Vision
A community that inspires a passion for lifelong learning.
Our Mission
Provide engaging and thought-provoking learning experiences for third age learners.
History
Following a successful lecture offered by Brock University in October 2014, some interested seniors met to discuss how to initiate a self-managed group to provide learning opportunities for adults in the Niagara region.
Lifelong Learning Niagara (LLN) was established in early 2015 as a not-for-profit third age learning organization managed by a volunteer Board of Directors and became incorporated in July, 2015.
Lifelong Learning Niagara is a member of the Third Age Network, an umbrella organization with chapters throughout Ontario that offer educational programs for senior adults. TAN provided guidance and advice as we began to plan our 2015 program.
Following two promotional lectures in the spring, we offered our first series of 6 lectures in the fall of 2015 at the Armenian Community Centre in St. Catharines.
In our first year of operation, we also held 3 members only events: meet the Board, a peer-to-peer workshop, and a short lecture/social time to celebrate our first year.
Since then, Lifelong Learning Niagara has offered 2 lecture series each year with excellent speakers covering a variety of topics, as well as special events where our members meet and socialize.
